How Do I?

There is no cost associated with the use of: Library materials, Internet access & computer use (by appointment), Adult & Children’s Online events & Take and Make Craft programs.

  • Mason County residents or students of educational institutions in Mason County can get a free library card filling out an application and providing two forms of ID: for example, a driver’s license, state identification card, or other similar document with photo ID. A photo will be added to patron records to protect their account.
  • Nonresidents must supply an address confirmation document and pay an annual fee of $5.00 which covers immediate members of ? household. Children must be 5 years of age to receive a library card and parents are responsible for all items checked out.

Yes. Use your library card to access your online account to renew books, see items checked out, reserve your favorite authors, or receive a text or email when you have a item to pickup at the library.Go to our Catalog and Enter your library barcode number (14 digits on the back of your library card) and last 4 numbers of your telephone number, as prompted.  If you have questions call the library.

Would you like to request an item you can’t find in our collection? While we can’t guarantee we can get everything, we’ll certainly do our best. Items may be purchased for our collection or borrowed from another library depending on availability, popularity, publication date and other factors. If we are able to obtain the item, we can place the item on hold for you and contact you when it becomes available.

Due to the large number of requests we receive, we can only review six requests per patron each month. Requested items will typically be available within 30 days.

You can either bring in the items to renew, call our librarian on duty, or log into your account and renew your books under "items out/renewals". As long as they are not past due, they can be renewed 2 times.

On the full access Adult card, the limit is 20 items in total can be checked out on one account!
Other limits include:

 2 TV series

 10 DVDs

You can either place them in the return boxes, or check them back in at our self-checkout spot.

Our current limit is 2 TV SERIES per person. You can get a season of one show, and a season of something else. Or you can get 2 of the same show.

Log into your account on our Catalog and look up the book/media you’d like to reserve. To the right of the image of your book/media you’ll see “reserve this item”. You’ll then choose how you’d like to be notified when your reserve is ready and you’ll press “place reserve”

 

 Use our self checkout system to reserve a computer. Ask a staff member for further assistance!

Step-by-step Instructions: 

Press Reserve a Computer/ Press Next Available PC/ Scan Library Card or use a barcode provided / Press Submit / Press Accept Reservation/ Bring the barcode to your reserved computer (even if you didn't use it) to log into reserved computer

Yes! You have two options you can reserve a library computer and print using our print release system or use our mobile printing option.

It’ll be 10 cents per black & white page and 30 cents for a colored print.

Our machines accept $1 and $5 bills. Any printing job that costs more than this will need to be broken up into separate print jobs.
