 Attention all Poets:

 

In connection with this year’s BIG READ program, Mason Count= y Public Library and the Friends of the Library are sponsoring a poetry con= test open to Students and Adults.  All entries are to be written in th= e style of Edgar Allan Poe and submitted to the Library by October 24th.  Please sub= mit your entry, with a completed entry form, to the library:

There will be two prizes of $50 gift cards for Barnes and Noble: o= ne for adults (age 18 and over) and one for students (grade 6 and up). Entr= ants will also have the opportunity to read their poem at the Community Col= lege in conjunction with their literary event on October  22nd.

A people’s choice award will be made for the video short tha= t best embodies the spirit of Poe’s work.  Entrants will upload = their video to youtube.com, and return a completed entry form via- email: m= cpl3286@gmail.com (subject line: video contest)

The contest rules are as follows:

 

All videos must be= uploaded to youtube.com before October 20th 2009.

All videos must ha= ve a title and be recognizably inspired by one or more of Edgar Allen Poe&#= 8217;s works of fiction or poetry.

Each video must in= clude a visual representation of the contest sponsor information, which can= be picked up with the entry form, or downloaded from the library website:&= nbsp; www.masoncountylibrary.com .

Entrants must prov= ide the library with a working link to the video, and submit an entry form = (available online or at the library) by noon (EST), October 20th.

The winner will be= notified by phone, and the announcement will be made on

October 30th at the masquerade= ball.

Votes may be cast = for videos by title by emailing mcpl3286@gmail.com (put the  &nbs= p;      title of the chosen video in the subject l= ine.) the winner will be the video receiving the most votes by noon (EST) O= ctober 30th. Votes will be co= unted at 1 PM.
